
The novel tells the story of the girls' necklace, a necklace that the girls' father bought for his youngest daughter, Wajh al-Saad. On his wife's advice, he decided to distribute the necklace's beads among his daughters so that each would have a bead to wear on her chest. In a moment of revenge against the girls' father, after someone mistakenly believed that he was collaborating with the French occupiers, he kidnapped his youngest and most precious daughter.
